Congratulations to the fencers from our club selected to fence for Scotland in the Veteran Womens’ Foil team in the Commonwealth Fencing Championships
We will be holding a free introduction to fencing course at 7:00pm on Thursday 5th May. Bring a friend.
GWEFC are pleased to confirm that we are now open again without any restriction on numbers.
We welcome all adult fencers of any ability and all weapons.
For people new to the sport, we recommend they attend one of our free Beginner's Nights.
In line with current Government guidance, we expect to be able to open for training at 7:30 pm on Thursday 27th January.
As usual, we will close over the Christmas period, our last night of training will be Thursday 9th December.
However, we will have an outing on Thursday 16th December for Drinks and Food at The Athol Arms starting at 7:30pm.
We will be starting back after the holidays on Thursday 13th January 2022.
Unfortunately, due to a limitation on the number of people allowed in each session, for the moment we cannot accept any new members. We hope to be able to start accepting new people in January.
Scottish Fencing has announced that the date for next year's Scottish Open will be the weekend of 26th/27th February 2022.
As in recent years, the event will be held at the National Sports Centre Inverclyde, Burnside Road, Largs KA30 8RW.
GWEFC will open for training again at 7:30 pm on Thursday 14th Oct at the ARC Building, Cally Uni. Please do not arrive too early to allow for Social Distancing.
There will be no changing facilities or showers available, so come dressed ready for training. We will be concentrating on getting people back to fencing fitness – that means footwork and bladework – but there will be some fighting on the box available too.
Everyone must wear COVID face coverings in common areas within the ARC and when not actively exercising.
