Some of our ladies travelled down to Largs for the Inverclyde Open.

Their results were as follows:

• 6th – Maria Cabrelli (who claims still to fence at our club)

Scotland came 2nd overall in the recent Veterans 4 Nations International in Dublin.  Some great results for our teams, especially the Women's Sabre team who won all their matches.

Also well done to Fiona Jamieson, stepping in at the last minute to complete our Women's Foil team – and holding her own in her first competition.

As in previous years, when not running the cafe (or DT) some of our members participated in the actual competition of the Glasgow Open 2013.

In the Ladies' Foil there were good results for

• Maria Cabrelli, L16
• Ruth Davidson, L32

In the Men's Epee and Foil, Simon and Kris (a couple of our recent beginners) managed great results for their first Open competition – and it being the largest competition in Scotland.

Some brave souls battled through the snow to attend the recent Wallace Fencing Epee 48er competition:

  • 5th – Kris Moodley

The next 48er will be a Foil one on 11th May – entry online at http://www.wallacefencing.org.uk/~wfa/page158.html

That event is the final in a series of 6 48ers with the cash prizes awarded to the top 3 overall competitors.

The team Scotland selection for this year's Veterans Home International match has been announced by Scottish Fencing.

Included in the teams are Mark McKenzie (Epee), Keith Davidson (Sabre) and Fiona Jamieson (Foil) from GWEFC.

The Veterans 5 Nations is being held this year in Dublin on May 4th & 5th and represents a great opportunity for another strong Scottish performance.
